Frederick Scalen came into the shop recently offering to show me some of his work. I recall it was unseasonably warm out and he had just cycled over. When he pulled these magical pieces from his backpack I was shocked! Frederick is an incredibly humble and skilled woodworker creating a variety of pieces ranging from cheese knives presented in beautifully crafted wooden boxes, large inlayed cheese boards, to hand-carved spoons and butter knives. His work has been the talk of the shop lately and I urge you to come into the shop to see his pieces in person as I don’t feel my pictures quite do them justice. I am also thrilled to announce that Frederick will host a spoon carving workshop in the new year.
