Sylvia Rivera 1973 Pride Speech Poster

Print designed and printed by Be Oakley of Sylvia Rivera speech at June 24,1973 Gay Pride Rally at Washington Square Park NYC. This poster is designed using our Street Transvestites Action Revolutionaries font, a font made from the hand lettering of a banner held by Sylvia Rivera. "As a trans Latina, Sylvia Rivera was an outlier among white gay men and lesbian feminists. In 1970, she cofounded the militant group and youth shelter STAR (Street Transvestite Action Revolutionaries) with African American trans activist Marsha P. Johnson (1945-–1992)), providing vulnerable and homeless trans teenagers with food and clothing."
