Glass Talismans
One of a kind stained glass talismans by Toronto artist Justine McGrath.
McGrath is a mixed Métis visual artist whose conceptual stained glass work has been exhibited internationally. Her talismans are truly one of a kind, no two are recreated and each possess specific meanings meant to create visual prompts for feelings shared by the artist. Each piece takes a few days to complete and is made entirely by hand.
Sunset Bat: SOLD Sunset Bat is curled up and waiting for its time to fly. Watching the sun set knowing it will soon emerge from its cave to feel freedom and abundance. A feeling vastly felt by all of us as we begin to discover a sense of normalcy again after the past year plus.
Raven Talisman: SOLD Raven, crescent, and Métis inspired florals: to bring insight and growth through dark periods.
Ouroboros and Ghost Pipe: SOLD Iridescent green ouroboros reflecting on cycles of life, death, and rebirth. Ghost pipe reduces sensitivity to painful experiences. We are collectively moving through a great deal of anxiety and grief. This talisman reminds that we will soon recover the joyful life we knew and to try to sit with the pain for now.
High Desert Talisman: iridescent sun, bird silhouette, and saguaro cactus: to reminisce about desert warmth during periods where we are unable to travel.
Tropical Talisman: SOLD conch shell, mirrored divider, and sunset landscape: to reminisce about ocean air during periods where we are unable to travel.
Change Your Mind Mirror: SOLD Inspired by observing our ability to reprogram our thought processes, work through insecurities, and embracing asymmetry in art and personal appearance.
