 This series of photographs grew from my habit of hunting for discarded print material and mining for images that I recombine into collages. I have amassed a vast personal archive of cuttings, and draw from the paper pieces as though from a palette, a process I liken to painting with paper. When the resulting collage is printed as a photograph, the fossil-like compositions become unified and uncanny, evidence of the analogue process, obscured.

 The works are truly abstract, although they contain familiar elements. They are a sometimes grotesque coalescing of forms that blur the lines of media, scale and setting. They could be microscopic or cosmic, the record of a mysterious process, or a planet held in a unique order. My desire is that the viewer can lend their ingenuity to the telling of the story, that they experience curiosity and find jumping points to their own meaning.
