Our Fight long sleeve
Please note that the text on this long sleeve is printed in red font with black shadows on a pink tee.
4 years ago I was in my first semester graduate school at VCUarts . The day after the election, I made this work based on a protest sign from gay liberation. I added the words again and again to reflect how long these fights for queer, trans and non-binary people and black, brown and indigenous peoples has been going. I posted this photo on November 12, 2016 these words still ring run today.
“This week has put some perspective into my studio practice and reminded me why I make the type of work I do. I look forwards to using my agency as a maker, as an activist and as a student in an MFA program to expand my voice and the voice of others.
I don't wish to move to another country. I want/will/always fight for a safer and more inclusive spaces that resists racism, sexism, ableism, homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia, and all the other ism that foster hate and death.”
