Centerfold by Carly Ries
"Seeking to disrupt the conventions of the female nude and the so-called “still” life, I rearrange, overlay, and combine original and found images, often manipulated in camera or digitally to emphasize textures, contours, and relationships that are often hidden or overlooked. My practice deals with questions of subjectivity and empathy through the careful, sustained observation of bodies both human and botanical.
